A 12-year-old boy was murdered by rival waste collectors on Tuesday for rag picking.

Kayum is the victim. Police arrested Parveez (22) and Rubel (23), both rag pickers from West Bengal and staying at a temporary shed in Basapura. Kayum and his father Mohammad Nasir were staying in an adjacent shed. Parveez and Rubel apparently objected to Kayum rag picking at Mudra Garments near Basapura, warning him that it was their territory and he should go elsewhere. But Kayum kept visiting the area.

Around 8 pm on February 6, Parveez and Rubel went near Basapura Ground in an inebriated condition. They saw Kayum and picked a fight with him. In a fit of rage, they hit his head with a torch and slit his throat. They wrapped Kayum's body in a large plastic bag and threw it in the bushes before returning to their shed.
