India emerging successful in electronic warfare: US body

The Association of Old Crows, a US-based group of specialists in electronic warfare, said India is emerging as one of the most successful and active groups of electronic warfare professionals in the world.

Lisa Fruge, global president of  the association,  was addressing  the fifth International Conference on Electronic Warfare.

The three-day conference, which was inaugurated in the city on Wednesday, has participants from across the country, who are involved in the defence sector.

Lisa said that in future, warfare would only be electronic, owing to the speed at which technology is advancing. She said innovation in the field of electronic warfare was important and called for the involvement of young professionals, who can develop new applications.

M V Gouthama, BEL chairman and managing director, said that electronic warfare systems have become the most essential feature in modern warfare of all nations. He said the field was dynamic and there was scope for innovation and continuous research.

Gouthama encouraged production of critical software within the country, in keeping with the 'Make in India' mission.
