SA tourism roadshow to attract Indian tourists

In order to attract Indian tourist, the South African tourism department took out a roadshow on MG Road on Thursday. Various accommodation establishments, destination management companies, airlines and tourism associates took part in the roadshow.

Speaking to media persons here, Hanneli Slabber, regional general manager, Asia, Middle East, South African tourism said: "We want to offer an affordable, value for money destinations in our country so that we can get more visitors. We have some interesting offers, which includes no extra pay for the internal travel in South Africa. Even the ATM machines do not charge extra. If at all there is an extra charge, it must be from the banks here."

As over 70 international airlines fly to South Africa now, efforts are on to increase the seating capacity from popular routes which includes Bangalore, he said.

India is the eighth largest international source market for the South African tourism. About 7% of the Indian tourists in South Africa are from Bangalore, Slabber added.
