The cyber crime police on Saturday questioned Ram Gopal Varma in connection with a complaint against him for making derogatory comments against women during a TV discussion on his film God Sex and Truth.

Social worker R Devi, who had opposed the release of the film, has filed a complaint accusing the filmmaker of making personal comments against her.

Varma appeared before the officials at the Central Crime Station in response to the notice served on him almost a month back.

Cybercrimes Additional DCP Raghuveer said Varma cooperated with the police but didn't answer technical issues.

Varma was asked about the location of the shoot and how he paid for the controversial film starring American porn star Mia Malkova.

According to sources, Varma denied making the film and said that it was produced by an American production unit and he has only provided them with the concept.

The filmmaker argued that he can't be held responsible for a web film shot by someone in the US.

The police have seized Varma's mobile phone and laptop and have been asked to appear on Sunday for further questioning. Police also questioned Varma over his comments on Devi.

During a discussion on a vernacular TV channel, Varma reportedly wanted to know whether Devi has been watching porn in her personal time and also wanted to know whether the so-called social workers do sex without getting nude.

Following protests, the police registered an FIR against the filmmaker for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form. Cases were booked against Varma under IPC sections 506 (Criminal Intimidation) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
