Senior cricketer Irfan Pathan was full of praise for the Indian bowlers, who stood out in South Africa. Even though India lost the Test series, their pacemen was exceptional and the bowling continued in the same fashion to dominate the hosts in the one-day internationals.

The 33-year-old Irfan was quick to acknowledge the difference bowlers made in the two series. "In Tests, Bhuvi, Shami did really well, and in one-dayers, spinners come into picture and bowled really well," he said.

"For any side, it is good to have a good bunch of bowlers. Right now, Indian cricket has that (luxury) which is wonderful to see."

Irfan is convinced the young team is on the right path leading up to the World Cup next year.

"In terms of overall performance, everything is a plus," said Irfan. "(The series win) should give confidence to the Indian team going into the World Cup. It will also set them up for the next away series," he added.

Irfan was particularly impressed with the way the Indian team fought back against a tough opponents away from home. "Even in Test cricket, I thought Indian team played really well and things could have gone our way. But in one-day cricket, the Indian team was dominant and ruthless," Irfan said.

The left-arm medium pacer reserved special praise for Kohli, who struck three centuries in the recently-concluded ODI series. "Virat Kohli's performance and the way he led (the team) was outstanding. He rightly won the man of the series," he remarked.

Irfan, who last played for India in a Twenty20 International against the Proteas in Colombo in September 2012, was speaking to the reporters at the launch of Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) here on Saturday. Irfan is the director of CAP.
