JOIN USBut a customer's recent takeaway experience from McDonald's turned to be a horrifying one. The fast-food was apparently cooked so fast, that it remained raw.
On Sunday night, DH journalist headed to the McDonald's outlet in the Gopalan Signature Mall on Old Madras Road. She ordered for the Big spicy chicken wrap for a takeway.
After a small bite, she discovered that the chicken in the wrap was simply uncooked.
Shocked about the raw chicken in the wrap, asked on the same, the person in charge was ready to compensate the money as a one of case.
There were two such instances on the same day where customers were not satisfied with what they got in the Mall outlet.
Shocked about the raw chicken in the wrap, she called the fast-food chain's customer care and reached Jaffer, the chef manager of McDonalds, Gopalan Signature mall outlet after several re-routed calls.
Initially Jafer hesitated to take responsibility for the blunder. However, on being informed that the reporter had pictures of the raw chicken, he accepted the fault. "The meat was raw due to ice crystals on the meat." he confessed.
The chicken is frozen and when the chef tried to cook it, the ice on it may have left it uncooked.
However, the chef manager was ashamed of the mistake after being rebuked for serving the raw meat when he could have either delayed the order or informed the customer about the situation. The customer was offered a refund or replacement.
Not a happy meal after all.
