Cong rattled by Shah's visit to Dakshina Kannada: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel

Last Updated 18 February 2018, 13:28 IST

BJP national president Amit Shah will tour the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, from February 19 to 21.

Briefing reporters here on Sunday, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said Shah would tour all the 30 districts in the state twice before the election. Fearing Shah's visit and the BJP wave in the state, the Congress leaders are issuing all kinds of statements and are hiding in the den, he said.

"There is an anti-incumbency wave. The Congress is fearing losing the upcoming elections. KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao had stated that Amit Shah incites communal disturbances. However, the state has seen highest number of communal disturbances and gang war during the Congress regime all these years," he said.

Further, he said, "When the chief minister visited Mangaluru, Sharath Madiwala died. During his visit to Uttara Kannada, Paresh Mesta was killed. Wherever  the chief minister goes, there is a murder," he said. However, the state has not witnessed communal disturbances or murders during Shah's visit to the state. The Congress leaders should issue responsible statements, he added.

On arecanut, Kateel said it was the UPA government which submitted an affidavit on a report claiming there was carcenogenic content in arecanut. The NDA government is making all efforts to withdraw the affidavit in the court through the ministry of law, agriculture and health. Already, three rounds of meetings have been held with the ministers of law, agriculture and health.

Udupi BJP president Mattaru Rathnakar Hegde said all preparations had been made for Shah's visit to Udupi district, including the Krishna Mutt, on February 20 and 21.
