Bengaluru has offered job opportunities to some and success stories to many others. Soumavo Sarkar and Sarbani from Kokrajhar, Assam owe the city their love story and their satisfying lifestyle. The duo who live in the city with three-and-a-half year Shrehaan,  are convinced that they couldn't have asked for more.

Soumavo works as a senior account director with Gartner Research and Advisory Services Pvt Ltd and Sarbani works as a senior US tax advisor with H & R Block India Pvt Ltd. They vouch that they have grown professionally and personally as individuals and as a couple. "I came here for my graduation and stayed on because I saw a lot of potential here. It's a land of  favourable jobs. Apart from  finding a good job, I also rediscovered myself as a person here," says Soumavo.

"Bengaluru  never  left me. Even when I would travel or go to different cities for work, I would crave to be back. Be it the  cool people or the weather, the  mixed culture or the accepting citizens,  everything here is alluring," he adds.

He recollects an incident from his initial days here, when he was headed to a friend's house  and asking for directions. "A 50-year-old man helped me till the doorstep of his house. In other cities, people will not even bother to help with proper directions. There is something magical about Bengaluru and its people. Incidents like these have happened multiple times later on," he adds.

Sarbani quips in, "People  are very inclusive here. This makes one feel wanted."  Soumavo remembers that every time 'Durga Puja' festivities are on and the family is visiting 'pandaals',  autorickshaw drivers and others ask them questions about their hometown and about the celebrations. "They  are genuinely interested in finding out about the traditions and culture. This is very welcoming," he says.

The couple who share the same hometown, lost touch when they moved to different places for studies. "We met here  and the city helped blossom our relationship. We owe  our love story to Bengaluru. Both of us love green spaces and love walking. In fact, we don't visit malls at all. I remember  how we went for a walk  on a road which had a canopy of trees, the first time we met. We still  like taking a break often," says Sarbani.

The family loves taking breaks on weekends and heading off to  places like  Horsley Hills, Devarayanadurga Hills,  Hogenakkal Falls, Mysuru and regular trips to Nandi Hills. "It's important to take a break from the humdrum of the city," Soumavo adds.  He strongly believes in the saying 'When in Rome, do as the Romans do'. "I believe in adjusting to the place one is in. I love  South Indian food. We have 'idli' or 'dosa' at least once during the weekdays and we  head out for South Indian breakfast or 'thali' during the weekend," says  Soumavo. The family loves visiting Anand Bhavan, MTR, Madurai Idly Shop and other 'darshinis'. "We also love going to 'magalore Pearl in Fraser Town for its 'neer dosa' and 'chicken ghee roast'," he adds. It's not only their culinary journey and love for outdoors but also the safety factor that keeps them here. "I  am glad that I can board an auto at 11 pm and not worry about reaching home safe," says Sarbani.

Being subtle is an important lesson  Soumavo has learnt from the city.  "I've learnt to not be aggressive. People here are down to earth and generous," he adds.
