Satish Jarkiholi's brother may jump ship if denied Cong ticket

The feud between the Jarkiholi brothers - AICC secretary and MLA Satish Jarkiholi and his younger sibling Lakhan Jarkiholi - has intensified with the latter expressing his willingness to contest the elections from Yamakanamaradi constituency as candidate of the BJP if the Congress denies him the ticket.

Yamakanamaradi constituency came into existence in 2008 after delimitation and has been reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category. Satish has won comfortably from the constituency during the 2008 and 2013 elections.

Lakhan says his supporters want him to contest the election from Yamakanamaradi and that during the previous election, Satish was given the candidature at the last moment.

"I shall not contest as an independent and will make efforts to get the candidature of some national party," he has said.

Lakhan plans to meet KPCC president G Parameshwara and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and seek the party ticket for himself, before deciding his next course of action.
