UoM land dispute: records submitted to SC

Last Updated 20 February 2018, 17:15 IST

A team of the district administration and the Revenue Department, led by Deputy Commissioner D Randeep on Tuesday, submitted the original documents of the lands of the University of Mysore, which had been disputed by a few private individuals, to the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The Supreme Court has posted the case for an order shortly.

As the court had expressed its displeasure over the state government's failure in furnishing the records in the dispute, involving the University of Mysore, the Deputy Commissioner and his team rushed to New Delhi on Tuesday, to produce the documents before the court.

It has to be recalled that the university had approached the court when it found that the katha of 23 acres of the lands in its possession were in the name of private individuals. Out of the 23 acres of the disputed lands, two individuals had claimed that eight acres should go to them as they were farmlands, in the year 2004. The high court had ruled in favour of the two individuals Rajaiah and Nanjaiah. The remaining land had been leased by the university to an organisation. So, the court had ordered re-claiming of the land by the university.
