The medical condition of Vidwath L remains same three days after he was assaulted by Congress MLA N A Haris' son Mohammed and his friends.

Doctors said Vidwath needs to be in the hospital for at least three weeks. Vidwath was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Mallya Hospital on Saturday (February 17)

"There is bleeding under his face (subconjunctival haemorrhages). He has sustained a broken nose and a fracture on his cheek bones (maxilla)," said Dr Anand K, consultant plastic surgeon.

Vidwath has also sustained fracture from the fourth rib to the ninth on his right side. There are severe fractures from the fourth rib to the eighth rib on his left side.

"He will have to be under observation for at least three more days. So far there is no lung-related problem, but it can occur," said Dr Anand.

There is no need for a surgery on the face, but the rest of the fractures will have to be monitored, Dr Anand added.

Vidwath is on liquid diet as there is a severe pain when he tries to eat and even when he tries to drink or talk.

Mallikarjuna, head of operations, said that Vidwath is conscious but has been under observation for the last two days.

Mohammed and his associates have confessed before the police that they committed the crime. The police have also gathered CCTV footage from Farzi Cafe. It is, however, not clear in the footage as to who started the fight.

In the Legislature, the BJP raised the issue even Haris apologised for his son's behaviour.

The parties later decided not to press the issue further following an assurance from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy that action would be taken against the accused as per the law.
