The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) received appreciation from President Ram Nath Kovind for restoration of various monuments and transformation of Sunder Nursery into a magnificent city heritage park and arboretum in Delhi.

Prince Karim Aga Khan called on the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.

"The President was happy to note that the AKDN has partnered India not only in social sector projects but also in restoration of historic monuments and urban renewal," Kovind's office said in a statement.

Referring to the inauguration of the "restored" Sunder Nursery in Delhi, the President said that India appreciates the AKDN "for helping in several restoration projects".

The President also acknowledged the development initiatives that Prince Aga Khan was supporting in India and other parts of the world.

"The programmes of the Aga Khan Development Network and India's flagship initiatives complement each other, be it Swachh Bharat, Skill India, heritage conservation, women empowerment or income generation in rural areas," the President said.

Kovind also congratulated Aga Khan on the diamond jubilee of his leadership of the Ismaili community. "Prince has led with great humility and has been a shining example of goodness for humanity," he noted.
