For many who've been in the city for a while already know of The Egg Factory. It's been around for 10 years after all! The popular restaurant revamped its interiors and menu recently and is all set to welcome customers to 'eggsplore' the new avatar.
There are a host of new dishes from around the world, most of which you would be surprised to learn how they are not too 'eggy'. The menu might even confuse you as there are a number of dishes you will want to choose.
The list starts off with the breakfast platter which might just be enough to fill you up. The 'TEF Special Breakfast Platter' makes for that perfect brunch indulgence with kaya in a toasted brioche, masala omelette, akoorie paav, served with sautéed mushrooms and a cup of coffee or tea.
From global and desi variations of omelettes, scrambled eggs and French toast, to street food specials such as 'Kothu Paratha' from Tamil Nadu and 'Egg Rajwadi' from Surat, each dish has something to offer.
The 'Kaya Brioche' from Singapore needs a special mention of its own for being so delicious. The toasted buttered brioche will leave you wondering where the egg in it is. It's a sweet dish which Singaporeans have for breakfast. The unique quality of this dish is that you don't get tired of having more than one. The sweet is balanced with the brioche which will only encourage you to have more.
If you're looking for a twist in your usual 'pav bhaji', the 'Anda Ghotala' is a must-have. While the pav still holds the same components, the 'bhaji' is a spicy, egg preparation hailing from Surat. The little chunks of egg white in it is a bonus factor.
The 'Tex-Mex Migas' is a perfect excuse to have chips for breakfast as the shredded tortilla, crisped and topped with a specially made scrambled egg is all you need to get you going for the day.
'Khao Suey' is not a new dish in the city but the creamy soupy noodles served here is one of the best. You can choose to have the vegetarian or the oyako which will have both egg and chicken in it.
If you wish your revisit your school and college days, the 'Anda Maggi' is recommended. It definitely has a lot of more ingredients than you might remember having but it's worth every bite.
There are plenty more options to choose from the 'bowls' and 'meals on a plate' section. But the dessert is something we'll never say 'no' to.
You can try the usual 'Caramel Custard' and 'Baked Cheesecake', but the 'Andey Ka Kheer' is highly recommended. Now, now - don't make that face. You'll realise that there is absolutely no taste of egg in it. It's mostly 'vermicelli kheer' - sweet and creamy - just like you hope a 'kheer' to be.
While the warm hospitality and the venue remain the same, the restaurant has a lot of new things to offer which will allow you to explore and rekindle the good old memories.
