The pourakarmikas and 'D' group employees of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike will go on an indefinite strike from March 14, if their demands are not fulfilled by that time.
Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, N Narayan, the president of joint committee of pourakarmikas and 'D' group employees' association said that the Palike should stop the "unscientific" practice of deploying one pourakarmika for every 700 people.
He said that the BBMP should hire 4,000 more pourakarmikas and the services of daily wage workers should be regularised. The workers would go on indefinite strike if their demands are not met, he added.
