In reply to a query raised by member Shashiprabha Shetty, taluk panchayat president Nalini Pradeep Rao instructed the officials to come up with an explanation about the compensation packages. Shetty also questioned the need for the use of police force in the process of acquisition.
As many as 110 people were offered compensation and a letter dispatched to the government requesting the compensation package for land losers.
Member Bhujanga Shetty expressed discontent on the functioning of the system and termed the officials as irresponsible. He said he had proposed cutting of trees in Kadur as most of the trees in the area were overgrown and had been posing a threat of getting uprooted.
The Horticulture officer said that under the Pradhan Mantri Agriculture Sinchayi programme, farmers are offered funds under for lift irrigation. The farmers should have at least one acre of land. The president also instructed the officials to hold a meeting to discuss the issues under DC Manna land regularly.
