Veteran actor Irrfan Khan on Monday admitted to being diagnosed with "rare disease" but said he would spell out details once investigations are through.

Irrfan, 51, who acted in films like The Namesake, The Darjeeling Limited, Academy Award-winner Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, New York, I Love You, The Amazing Spider-Man, Jurassic World, and Inferno, posted a message on Twitter.

"Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life-shaking you up. The last 15 days, my life has been a suspense story. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will," the actor said.

"My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don't speculate as I will myself share with you my story within week-ten days, when further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me!" he said.

The Rajasthan-born National School of Drama (NSD) alumnus is one of the actors successful in India as well as international cinema and has several awards to his credit.
