Having waited for more than a month for friends and relatives to claim a body that was dragged for 70 kilometres by a KSRTC bus on February 1, the Wilson Garden police cremated the body on Thursday.
The body was found stuck under the chassis when the KSRTC staff was cleaning the sleeper coach bus on the morning of February 2.
During the inquiry, Moinuddin, who drove the KSRTC bus, said he heard a thud sound near Chanapattana, but did not spot anything odd as he looked in the rearview mirror. So, he continued driving without stopping.
Since the KSRTC cleaning garage is in Wilson Garden, jurisdictional police charged Moinuddin under IPC Section 304A (rash and negligent driving causing accidental death).
The police tried identifying the body with the help of their counterparts in other districts, but failed in their attempts.
