LPG leaking precariously as tanker topples on ghat route

An LPG filled tanker toppled on the road at Panakaje, near Madantyar, in Belthangdy taluk, Dakshina Kannada district on Friday afternoon.  

The tanker was travelling on the Ujire-Charmadi ghat route towards Bengaluru.

It turned turtle at about 2.30 pm and liquid petroleum (LPG); which is highly inflammable is leaking out of the tanker.  

All traffic on the ghat has come to a screeching halt.

Belthangdy fire services personnel have rushed to the spot and all efforts are being made to plug the LPG leak.
