The City Municipal Council (CMC) meeting on Thursday decided to seek the Deputy Commissioner's permission to utilise Municipal funds towards carrying out development works.

During the meeting chaired by CMC president Shilpa Rajashekhar, the members unanimously decided to utilise funds from SFC funds of the year 2018-19 and 14th financial grants towards the draft of an action plan. Some members pointed out that the funds could not be utilised without the DC's permission and therefore, the necessity to utilise the funds should be conveyed to the DC to avail the permission so that the development works could be initiated.

Shilpa said that all the details sought by the DC regarding the works and available funds, have been furnished.

CMC member Devaraj Shetty sought a work order for the works towards which tender process has been completed. Necessary action should be taken before the notification for Assembly election is out.

H D Tammaiah suggested an all members meeting with the DC requesting him to grant permission. "A master plan towards the solid waste management unit near Indavar is the need of the hour," he said.

Hiremagaluru Puttaswamy meanwhile, sought to know the status of solid waste management project to be implemented at a cost of Rs 80 lakh.

A Karnataka Urban Water Supply official said that the work towards 24X7 water supply in the city is in progress under Amrit project. The work will be taken up in 1,2,3, 21 and 22nd wards in the first phase and the works are expected to be completed by June. The second phase would be completed by October.

Thammaiah sought detailed information on Amrita project as there is a lot of confusion regarding the same.

"As the state government has directed the City Municipal Councils and Town Municipal Corporations to divert SFC grants to Indira canteen, there is a shortage of Rs 2.43 crore funds in the CMC," Thammaiah said.
