Two pillion-riding women die in separate accidents

A 39-year-old woman riding pillion died on the spot after a concrete mixer truck mowed down her two-wheeler on Thursday evening on the ITI service road near KR Puram.

Gowramma was going on the bike with a relative to Marathahalli. At the service road, the truck rammed into the two-wheeler, knocking Gowramma to the ground and running over her. She was killed on the spot. The KR Puram police have arrested the driver and seized the truck.

A 31-year-old woman riding pillion died after her husband lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a road divider near Singasandra on Thursday. Lalitha and Ramalakshman were going to Koramangala. Closer to Singasandra, he lost control and fell on to the road. The vehicle skidded and Lalitha fell. Lalitha suffered severe head injuries as she was not wearing a helmet. She was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Ramalakshman is recovering.
