Bengaluru tops list of most absent-minded metros in India

The city may have topped several unique kinds of surveys, but it has created a record of sorts by managing to end up on top of the list for the most left-behind items in cabs.

Cab aggregator Uber, who put together the survey called 'Lost and Found Index', also revealed that citizens in the IT hub get more forgetful - and report the maximum number of lost items - during weekends as they get high or nurse a hangover.

Sharing the podium with Bengaluru for the most absent-minded metros in the country are Delhi NCR and Mumbai.

Among the most left-behind items in Uber cabs in India are phones, bags and keys, while ID cards, eyewear and umbrellas have also been reported missing most number of times in the past one year.

It is not just the most mundane items that wind up in the car seat. Uber drivers have found wedding gifts, LCD television sets and tent houses meant for children, too.

What could have caused greater heartache to the families are the missing wedding albums, wedding lehengas costing Rs 20,000, and, oddly, two cheques worth Rs 25,000.

The three most forgetful days in 2017 for Bengalureans came in September (2, 9 and 16).

"Our goal is to use this fun and insightful index as an opportunity to educate our riders about the in-app options available to them at the tap of a button in case they lose something in an Uber," said Sanjay Gupta, head of marketing, Uber India & SA.
