Faux pas again

»After bungling up on Basavanna's vacahana during his north Karnataka tour recently, Rahul again cut a sorry figure as he made a false claim on the party government's achievement at the Chikkmagaluru rally.

While hailing the Siddaramaiah-led Congress for its contributions, especially towards the SC/ST communities, Rahul said the ruling party had also distributed cycles to students. Congress leader B L Shankar, who was translating Rahul's speech, however chose not to use the word cycles. He, instead, said that the government had distributed free laptops to students. Rahul, however, whispered to Shankar and insisted that he mention that cycles were distributed. A clearly discomfited Shankar said that the Congress government had distributed both cycles and laptops. The reason for Shankar's discomfort is the fact that the cycle scheme was announced by the previous
BJP government.

Will be back on March 24

»Rahul, who concluded his tour in coastal and Malnad regions on Wednesday, will be back in Karnataka on March 24, marking his fourth pre-election visit to the state.

He will travel to Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Mysuru districts. He will start the tour by visiting Chamundi Hill in Mysuru and later travel to Chamarajanagar, Yelandur, Kollegal and Malavalli. He will halt for the night in Mysuru. On March 25, Rahul will tour KR Pet, Pandavapura, Srirangapatna (Mandya district), before returning to Mysuru, where he is scheduled to address a public meeting at 6 pm.
