Brand Bengaluru logo yet to catch on in city

The recently launched Brand Bengaluru logo is yet to catch the fancy of the city.

So far, the logo is visible only in three places in Bengaluru - the blueFROG restaurant on Church Street, Phoenix Market City in Whitefield and at Cubbon Park.

Though it was used at the recently held Nandi Hills habba and the Rachenahalli Lake habba, there was no sign of it at any government-organised event in the city.

Bengaluru got its logo on December 24, 2017, during the open street at Ambedkar Veedhi. The logo was unveiled in Vidhana Soudha and was installed at Cubbon Park on the day of the launch. The board has remained there since then.

The logo was designed by Nammur, the Indian Story. The company has not claimed any royalty or copyright over it. The tourism department has also not yet legally adopted the logo as the agreement is yet to be signed.

Rushi Patel, co-founder of Nammur, said: "The transfer had not yet happened and we were not charging anyone for using the brand name. Yet, it has not been extensively used. This is due to lack of marketing and advertising. Many are not aware of Bengaluru having its own brand name. Corporates should come forward to widely popularise it."

"The logo is for people to adopt. We have used it at a few places, but more needs to be done. We are in the process of signing an agreement with Nammur. Once the copyright and trademark are registered in our name, it will be popularised on a large scale," tourism director N Manjula told DH.

She added that they were getting the agreement verified by the legal team and hence the delay. The government will insist that all its departments use it extensively for all events and on their premises, too.
