Minister of State for Women and Child Development Dr Virendra Kumar distributed sarees, vermillion and flowers and touched the feet of expecting mothers at the 'Seemantha' programme held in Ramasamudra village, near Yadgir, on Thursday.
The central minister pleasantly surprised the gathering of pregnant and other women, officials by this act.
"These women are my sisters. There is nothing difficult about touching their feet them," Kumar remarked.
Later at the inauguration of a new anganwadi, the minister fed children suffering from malnutirtion a groundnut sweet. When the officials brought eggs for feeding the children, Kumar refused to touch eggs saying: "I am a strict vegetarian. I cannot touch eggs".
