Progressives urge CM Siddaramaiah to unite secular forces ahead of polls

A group of progressive thinkers met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday and urged to him to unite all the secular forces in the state to defeat the "communal" BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Samvidhana Rakshanegagi Karnataka, comprising freedom fighters, scholars and progressive thinkers, had recently met JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, and had made a similar appeal to him.

Advocate and former legislator A K Subbaiah impressed upon the chief minister to join hands with secular parties, including the JD(S), to face the elections. Siddaramaiah however said that sharing seats with other parties would be difficult at this juncture. He however said that he would consider their suggestions
seriously.
