JOIN USEnraged by her lover's attempts to entice her 14-year-old daughter, a 32-year-old woman killed him in the early hours of Thursday in Annapurneshwari Nagar in Doddabidrakallu.
Raghu (33), a native of Tamil Nadu, had been in a five-year relationship with his killer, Rupa. He worked with her husband for two years at a factory and so they knew each other's family. Despite being married to a woman from Tiptur, who was living in a rented house with their two children, Raghu had taken a liking for Rupa.
According to the police, Rupa's husband had left for Tiptur two days ago. Learning this, Raghu was at Rupa's house in an inebriated condition at 11 pm Wednesday. He had a quarrel with Rupa, saying he wanted to sleep with her daughter.
An incensed Rupa decided to kill him. She talked Raghu into having dinner first and served him ragi mudde laced with powdered sleeping pills. When Raghu fell asleep, she cleaved his abdomen with a kitchen knife and clubbed him with a vegetable grater.
Confessing to the crime, Rupa told the police that Raghu had been eyeing her daughter for a long time and had misbehaved with her on several occasions. She warned him not to visit her again, but Raghu came visiting her on Wednesday night, ignoring her words.
After murdering Raghu, Rupa sat beside his body for nearly half an hour. Her children emerged from their rooms and began screaming at the sight of their mother seated next to the blood-soaked body. The neighbours, alerted by the children's screaming, informed the police about the incident.
Arriving at the scene, the police took Rupa into custody and shifted Raghu's body to a hospital for post-mortem. The Peenya police have booked a case of murder and are conducting further investigations.
