BJP national president Amit Shah, on Friday, took a dig at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, calling him anti-Ahinda for not pressuring the Congress high command to support the Bill seeking to provide Constitutional status to Backward Classes Commission.

Addressing a gathering during a Scheduled Tribes convention, here, Shah said, Ahinda (Alpasankyatha, Hindulida and Dalitha) communities would be benefited if the Bill that recommends Constitutional status to Backward Classes Commission is enacted. But, the Congress members in the Rajya Sabha are opposing it. Though Siddaramaiah claims to be a champion of Ahinda communities, he failed to convince the Congress high command to support the Bill, Shah said.

"Siddaramaiah is also anti-Dalit and anti-tribes. Though the number of SC/ST students is high, Siddaramaiah has earmarked only Rs 123 crore for scholarships. But, he sanctioned Rs 513 crore for minority students," Shah pointed out.

"The Union government has considered Bamboo as an agriculture produce. So, anyone can sell bamboo. A Bamboo Research Centre would be established in Chamarajanagar. In addition, a memorial for Madakari Nayaka, ruler of Chitradurga, would be constructed. Siddaramaiah has forgotten the contributions of Madakari Nayaka. But, he celebrates jayanti of Tipu Sultan, son of Hyder Ali, who killed Nayaka," he said.

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa took Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president Dinesh Gundu Rao to task for accusing BJP leaders of violation of the model code of conduct. Rao had accused that BJP leaders gave money to the family members of Raju of Kyathamaranahalli, who was killed in 2016 in Mysuru.

Yeddyurappa said, Rao has complained to the Election Commission that BJP leaders offered money to the family members of Raju on Friday. "The complaint is far from truth. Let Rao give proof to substantiate his allegation," he said.
