JOIN USPre-monsoon showers across several parts of state on Friday brought relief from sweltering heat for the residents.
Parts of Mysuru region, including Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajanagar districts, received good rains, accompanied by lightning and hailstones.
Periyapatna, KR Nagar, HD Kote and Hunsur taluks of Mysuru district received copious rain. There were reports of rain in Bandipur forests of Chamarajanagar district. Chikkamagaluru received showers for around 45 minutes.
Heavy rains coupled with lightning, thunder and hailstones, threw normal life out of gear in and around Kushalnagar of Kodagu district. The rain brought traffic to a grinding halt on many key stretches. Several trees and electricity poles were uprooted disrupting power supply.
Malur in Kolar taluk received good rain coupled with hailstone for about 30 minutes. The showers brought relief for farmers. Several parts of the taluk have been receiving rain for the last three days.
The rains coupled with hailstones and gusty winds played havoc in parts of Chikkaballpur district destroying hundreds of acres of vineyard.
