'No govt made attempt to implement language policy'

Speaking at the 95th founders day of Kannada Sahithya Parishat in Madikeri on Wednesday, he said the politicians who have been speaking on the implementation of Kannada language are supporting English medium schools.

The children of Dalits, backward class are studying in Kannada medium schools and have remained socially backward owing to the government policy.  Though state, district and taluk-level Sahithya sammalen is being organised grandeously, the decisions taken at these sammelan never gets considered, he lamented.

Moornadu PU College Lecturer Mahadevaswamy said “Kannada Sahithya Parishath which came into existence on May 5, 1914 during the reign of Krishnaraja Odeyar IV and Diwan Vishweshwarayya and played a vital role in the development of Kannada.”  District Kannada Sahithya Parishat President T P Ramesh said district Kannada Sahithya Sammelan will be held at Ammathi this year.

Later, senior litterateur N Mahabaleshwara Bhat presided over a session in which Pu Ra Srinivas spoke on ‘Pro Kannada activities in Kodagu,’ ‘Awareness on literature among women in Kodagu’ by B R P Annamma. B A Shamshuddin spoke on ‘the status of theatre in Kodagu.’  Shanthalli Ganesh, Uday Nanjappa, Swathi Ramesh, Liyakhath Ali, Elasoor Udaykumar and Dhananjay sang Nadageethe on the occasion.
