The stormy night has damaged standing crops and properties worth crores of rupees in the region.

The Belur - Mudigere - Dharmasthala bus route has been cut off as more than 50 trees have uprooted on the highway. The KSRTC buses are taking alternative diversions.

Many parts of these taluks are plunged in darkness as electric poles are pulled down and power lines cut off. The life in the towns and villages are completely thrown out of gear.

Hundreds of coconut, arecanut trees, banana plantations, maize and cucumber crops are destroyed in Doddakodihalli, Hirehalli, Shivanenahalli, Soranayakanahalli in Lakshmipura in Saligrama. The storm has left the farmers in lurch who expected a bumber crop.

Fortunately there is no loss of life reported from any part of the affected areas, even as many houses have been destroyed and panic-gripped residents came out of their houses.
