The district is also home to the historic temples of Pattadakal. The great poet Ranna, was born at Mudhol, again part of the district. Then, there is Kudalasangama, associated with the great social revolutionary of the 12th century Basavanna. The rivers Malaprabha, Ghataprabha and Krishna flow in the district.
