Preethiyinda Ramesh

Wrong mix of emotions
Last Updated 14 May 2010, 16:30 IST

“Preethiyinda Ramesh” speaks of the squabbling and eventual romance of two people in the same business, with some internet chatting thrown in. Director Gunakumar has ‘adapted’ the 1998 Tom Hanks-Meg Ryan starrer “You’ve Got Mail”.

But “Preethiyinda...” fails to capitalise on a wonderful premise. Some of the characters are unconvincing; others are flummoxed by the language barrier. The director’s haste in canning important scenes works against the flow of the story, but the second half saves the film. Ramesh takes the entire film on his seasoned shoulders. Ramanitho, Kiran Srinivas and others are good. Suma Guha is a waste. Meeting friends in business suits is definitely not on!

A T Raveesh’s compositions and A C Mahendran’s camerawork complement each other.
“Preethiyinda Ramesh” fails to wake up viewers jaded by mindless fare.
