4 Indian colour technologists get rare honour from UK's SDC
Four Indian Colour Technologists have been bestowed with the most prestigious 'Charted Colourist’ honour by Society of Dyers and Colourist, UK.
Three alumni of Institute of Chemical Technology (formerly University Department of chemical Technology) and an IIT Mumbai alumni have been given this rare honour for demonstrating their distinction in the knowledge of colour science or colour technology and contribution to society.
The Indian recipients of Charted Colourist for this year are Prof C N Sivaramkrishnan, Director of Anmol Polymers Private Limited, Delhi, Vijay Sane, Chief Manager-Research and Development of Gharda Chemicals, Maharashtra, R V Deshpande, Proprietor of Core Management Associates, Mumbai and Prof Asim Kumar Roy Choudhary of Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Serampore West Bengal.
Currently, there are only 20 Chartered Colourists in India including these four, a release from Society of Dyers and Colourist (Education Charity), said.
It signifies that the recipient has made a substantial contribution to the industry or academia and thus to economy, it said.
The awards were recently given in a power packed ceremony at the Nottingham Conference Centre (Nottingham) on May 7, the release said.
Society of Dyers and Colourist is the leading Independent, educational charity dedicated to advancing the science and technology of colour world wide. The society was established in 1884 and in 1962 it became a registered educational charity.
Whilst industry is constantly changing, the governing principles remain as relevant today as always, to promote by any or all available means the advancement of the science of colour. In 1963 the society was granted a Royal Charter and began to award Chartered Colourist (CCol) status in recognition of individual professionalism and on-going learning and development in Colour chemistry.
The CCol status remains the pinnacle of professional achievement today. The society operates globally and have offices in Bangladesh, China, Hongkong, India and Pakistan.
The mission of the society is to communicate the science of colour in a changing world and this is done by maintaining professional standards and improving the skills of colouration.
Professionals enabling them to deliver exceptional results for their organisation. This is delivered through membership, qualifications training consultancy, publications, events and access to knowledge and expertise.
The society also provides tried and trusted practical support services focused on implementing best practice in textile colour management resulting in improved efficiency and cost savings.
