Wild elephants worry villagers

The forest department has not met those who have lost their crops, property last year owing to the wild elephant mence.

They are still waiting for the compensation. In the meantime, the villagers are worried over the cntinuous attack of three wild elephants for the last few days.

Three wild elephants have settled down in Basavarahalli for the last 15 days. They have been  destroying crops in Aidalli, Kaviganahalli, Arenooru, Pura and surrounding areas. The elephants start attacking the crops around 10 pm. Arecanut, coconut, banana, jackfruts and coffee plants worth lakhs of rupees have been damaged so far

 “We have informed forest department on the rise in wild elephant menace 15 days ago. However, none of them have visited the spot nor made any attempt to chase the elephants to the firest,” alleged farmers.
