10 of the dead from Uttara Kannada

Karwar, May 22:

As many as 10 persons from Uttara Kannada among the 158 dead in the plane crash at Bajpe International Airport in Mangalore on Saturday.

They include eight from Bhatkal and one each from Karwar and Dandeli. They are: Mohammad Naseer Damudi (42) from Mavinkurve Port Road, Bhatkal and his children Bibi Sara (11), Nabeeha (9) and Suhaid (6);  Afreen(23), resident of Jolly Road  and her  son Abhan (3) and relative Abdul Bar (11);  Usman Sheik(48), resident of government hospital road, Mahendra Kodkani, from old Dandeli and Prasad Anandu Manjrekar(28), resident of Kadavada Sultanpur,
Karwar.

Death unites family

Mohammad Naseer Damudi, of Bhatkal, an enterpreneur in Dubai had come on a visit just a month ago to attend the funeral of his wife who was killed in automobile crash at Kambadkone. After his wife’s death, Damudi had taken his three children Bibi Sara, Suhaid and Nabeeha to Dubai and was bringing them back when they met with the tragic end.

Holiday turns Black Day

Afreen, a resident of Jolly Road, Bhatkal, along with her Abhan had gone to spend the vacation with her husband working in Dubai and were returning by the ill-fated flight. Abdul Bar, a relative who was travelling with them also lost his life.  

Old Dandeli resident Mahendra Kodkani, a businessmen in Dubai, was home on a visit just 10 days ago and had gone back to Dubai to fetch his ailing mother-in-law back to Mangalore by the flight that met with the accident.

Prasad Manjrekar of Kadavada Sultanpur, Karwar taluk, was a AC mechanic working for a Bangalore-based company and had quit his job to join a company at Dubai two and half years ago. His visit back home after going to Dubai, never became a reality.
