Carpenters murder old woman

The crime took place on the third-floor of Sibang Residential Apartments in Electronics City, where they had been working for the last few days.

The victim, Jayalakshmi, was alone at home as her son Srinivas Hattulari (31), a manager with a software firm on Residency Road, and his wife Amrutha had gone to the Art of Living Foundation on Kanakapura Road.

When they returned around 10:15 pm, Srinivas sensed the presence of someone in the puja room. Two persons rushed out, pushed him and ran out of the apartment.
Even as a baffled Srinivas was trying to comprehend the situation, another man ran out hurriedly. Srinivas, however, grabbed him with the help of neighbours who had by then gathered at the house.

When Srinivas went inside the hall, his mother was lying in a pool of blood, the belongings in the three cupboards were ransacked. A knife with blood stains was also found. According to Srinivas, no other valuables were missing. Electronics City police have booked a case of murder against Chhotu and his two other accomplices.

Student hangs self
An engineering student, Ashish Kumar Singh (25), a native of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, was found hanging in his room in Prashant Layout on Friday.
According to police, Singh was pursuing Computer Science engineering at the MVJ College of Engineering. Distraught over his failure in a subject, he took this extreme step, the police said. Whitefield police have registered a case.

Man drowns in lake
Narayanappa (70), a resident of Nellurhalli drowned after he accidentally slipped into Nellurhalli Lake in Whitefield on Friday evening, police said. Whitefield police have booked a case of unnatural death.

Gang extorts money
A four-member gang threatened a group of friends and extorted Rs 30,000 and three cell phones from them in Koramangala on Friday. Ankit Bhatia (24), a student of Chartered Accountancy and his friends had gathered at his house in Koramangala to celebrate the return of their friend Aman Bajaj from the US. Four unidentified persons knocked on the door and complained of  nuisance and threatened to inform the police. They demanded valuables from Ankit and his friends - Shabri, Varun, Nikhil, Bringesh, Krishna, Amit and also from Aman Bajaj. Koramangala police have registered a case.
