By the end of Tuesday, the MEG personnel and the BBMP casual labourers had searched and de-weeded 175 sqft of water in the Hennur lake. “We will be able to complete de-weeding in the next three to four days,” said a supervisor.
With plastic bags as make-shift gloves and dinghies to float, the armymen were taking turns to search the lake for any traces of the body. Nearly 120 people including the BBMP causal labourers are entrusted with the task of searching the boy’s body. The earth excavators ploughed through the weed, as the workers looked for the body amidst the garbage. The dinghies were pulled by fellow soldiers from one end of the lake to another, as the army went ahead with the operation with cautious speed so as not to miss a spot in the lake.
While the search for Abhishek’s body continued through the day, residents were relieved to see the Hennur Lake being finally cleaned up. The lake is completely engulfed with weeds due to the Palike’s utter negligence.
