HC upholds Bishop Cotton school principals' transfer

Allowing the appeal filed by S Vasanth Kumar, Bishop of Karnataka Central Diocese (KCD) and KCD Executive Committee, Justice K Jagannathan said the committee has the power to transfer the principals.

The judge also observed that the trail court order was unreasonable and capricious as it has no jurisdiction to pass such order.

The Additional City Civil and Session Judge on May 14 had stayed the transfer order of Principal of Boys’ school Col John Ellis and Principal of Girls’ school Princess Franklyn.
 
Order challenged
The executive committee of KCD on May 7 transferred Col John Ellis to Cathedral School and Princess Franklyn to St John's School in Bangalore. The duo had challenged the transfer order.

It was a general transfer in nature, along with the two principals, nine other principals were also transferred, said Senior Counsel Nalini Chidambaram, who argued for the KCD.
