Woman jumps into water tank, ends life
A 25-year-old married woman committed suicide by jumping into the underground water tank in her neighbour’s house in Sampigehalli here on Saturday morning.
Her parents have alleged that she committed suicide unable to bear the harassment meted out by her in-laws.
Geetha had married Gopal, a weaver from Agrahara Layout, on October 21, 2009.
According to her parents, she did not share a cordial relationship with her husband and his family.
Police said a family function was scheduled for Saturday at the household. Geetha, however, was apparently upset as her parents were not invited.
On Saturday morning around 7 am, she went to her neighbour Rafiq’s house and jumped into the six-feet deep underground water tank, police added.
The body has been kept at the Yelahanka Government Hospital for a post-mortem. Sampigehalli police have booked a case of dowry death under Section 304 (B) of the Indian Penal Code.
