Forum directs stockbroking firm to refund Rs 1.17 lakh

The consumer, Manoj Kumar had entrusted his stock market transactions to Arihant Fincap Ltd in Jayanagar. However, the firm kept him in the dark about the transactions causing him loss. It also invested his money in shares which Manoj had expressly barred, while he was away from the country for three months on official work.

He approached the Forum for relief which ordered payment of the sum with interest.

Apparels found guilty

H N Ramesh had paid Rs one lakh to Mathrushree Apparels to secure machinery and furniture on rental basis for running a readymade garment unit in his building.

The firm failed to provide the equipment and electrical connections as promised in spite of several requests and a legal notice. Ramesh finally complained to the IV Additional Forum which found the firm guilty of deficient service. It ordered Mathrushree Apparels to refund Rs one lakh to Ramesh with interest at 15 per cent along with costs of Rs 2,000.

House building society

The III Additional Consumer Forum has ordered the Vyalikaval House Building Co-operative Society and Sobha Developers to pay up Rs 28,000 to K S Shiva Swamy and Chitra Kumar, for not having allotting them a site. It has also ordered them to pay up Rs two lakh as compensation.

The Forum has also ordered the Society to repay Rs 85,000 along with Rs 49,000 and a compensation of Rs two lakh to S Ramesh.

The Forum has also found Aishwarya Downtown, a firm engaged in selling residential layouts guilty of deficient service. The firm has been ordered to refund Rs 1.65 lakh to Sindhu Rani, since she was not allotted the site as promised.

Refund ordered

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum Bangalore (Urban) has helped seven consumers to get back their money from Country Club of (India) Pvt Ltd. The Forum has found the Club guilty of deficient service since it failed to provide plots near Bangalore International Airport as promised to some of them. It has ordered the Club to refund the amount ranging from Rs 1.15 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh to all the consumers within four months of the order.

Complaint dismissed

Mohan Rajamani had filed a complaint against MakemyTrip India Pvt Ltd alleging that stay at the hotel booked by them for him in Chenai turned into a nightmarish as it did not have a lift and room service, bereft of broadband, and uncomfortable. He complained to the IV Additional Forum which found his allegations to be strange and unbelievable and dismissed the complaint.
