Five arrested for dacoity attempt
Hebbal police have arrested five persons who were allegedly planning to waylay people along the railway track near Gangamma Layout and snatch their belongings by threatening them with deadly weapons.
Chandra alias Kottamarappa (24) of T Dasarahalli, Navin Kumar (25) of Magadi Road, Navin alias Gorilla (20) of Peenya Dasarahalli, Stephen Raju alias Mental and Tikla, both 19 and residents of Nelagadaranahalli, are the suspects, police said.
Three goods autorickshaws, a motorcycle, two wooden logs,a dagger and a knife were recovered based on their information. With their arrest, two robberies reported in Nelamangala and RT Nagar were solved, police claimed.
Woman run over by lorry
A 35-year-old woman riding pillion on her husband’s two-wheeler was knocked down by a lorry in Whitefield on Saturday.
Savithamma, a resident of Nalavatti, and her husband Shankar (41) were going towards Channasandra Main Road on a bike, when the lorry hit their motorcycle.
Savithamma fell on her right side and she was run over by the lorry. Her husband, who fell on the other side sustained minor injuries, police said. The lorry driver is absconding.
Whitefield traffic police have registered a case of rash driving.
Gold chain lifted from car
Unidentified persons broke into a car and made away with a bag containing a gold chain worth Rs 30,000 on St John’s Road on Saturday night.
Sharief, a businessman from Shivajinagar has lodged a complaint with the Bharathinagar police.
