Bangalore, dhns:

The State government has finalised the seat matrix for undergraduate engineering courses for the current academic year.

As per the matrix, a total of 58,302 engineering seats will be available for selection in 148 engineering colleges in the State this year. Of these 31,621 are government quota seats to be offered through the CET.
Of the 60,847 seats available last year, a total of 35,330 were under government quota. With five engineering colleges yet to get the nod from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the entrance round seats are yet to be filled. As a result, a shortage of 1,190 seats exist.
With the Siddhartha College in Tumkur being granted a ‘Deemed University’ status, the seats there have also been exhausted, according to sources in the higher education department.
Meanwhile, private unaided colleges have around 22,243 seats, colleges of religious and linguistic minority institutions 2,679 seats, government colleges 3,010 and private aided colleges 3,439 seats.
