Woman strangles son, kills self

According to the police, Parimala who was upset with her husband's dowry harassment, strangled her son before committing suicide by hanging herself to a ceiling fan.  Police said Parimala was married to Nagaraj (36), a gardener, for seven years. She had completed her master’s degree and taught at the St Francis School in Koramangala.

Nagaraj didn't demand any dowry at the time of marriage. He, however, started harassing her a year after the wedding. Elders of both the families intervened to reconcile, but in vain. Although no suicide note has been found, Parimala's parents have lodged a complaint alleging harassment by Nagaraj.  When Viveknagar police secured Nagaraj for questioning, he denied the allegations. A case of dowry death has been registered against Nagaraj.

Wife-killer held

Ulsoor police have arrested a 34-year-old car driver who had reportedly stabbed his wife to death suspecting infidelity, at a juice shop near Trinity Circle on Saturday.  William was taken into custody when he was trying to board a bus to Andhra Pradesh at Indiranagar last night, police said.

William’s cousin Mahesh (31), a book binder from Murphy Town, Jayaraj Nagar, who dropped him at the crime spot on his motorcycle was also arrested, police added.  William allegedly stabbed his estranged wife Ramya, over a dispute relating to the custody of their seven-year-old son. On Sunday, William was produced before the 10th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate remanded him to judicial custody.

Man robbed of cash

Six persons robbed a private company employee Manoj (33) of his cash on Kebbehalla Main Road in Sunkadatakke on Saturday. He was returning home when the motorcycle-borne suspects assaulted him on the back and snatched Rs 2,800 cash and fled.
