SHRC notices

Taking cognisance of the reports in the media over water contamination in Jakkarayanakere, Hanumanthappa Colony and Shastrinagar, the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) Chairman Justice S R Nayak has issued notices to the commissioner, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and chairman, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board.

The commissioner and the chairman have been asked to submit a detailed report within two weeks on supply of contaminated water in the above mentioned areas. Reports suggested that residents in the above mentioned areas are being treated for symptoms of gastroenteritis in various hospitals due to water contamination.
