Aamna Sharief has broken free of her TV actress image. After a successful three-year stint as Kashish in Kahiin To Hoga, Aamna who bid adieu to TV and debuted in Bollywood with Aao Wish Karein will soon be acting opposite Ganesh in Cool – Sakkath Hot Maga, her first South Indian film.

“I have watched a couple of Ganesh’s movies and think he’s a brilliant actor. I will play a young college-going girl. Only if the right kind of people come together and strike good chemistry can there be magic on screen,” she told Metrolife.

Kannada is alien to Aamna but she says she loves challenges.  “I will do my homework and try my best to learn the language,” she says.

Aamna always wanted to be an actress. This young lady, from a very conservative Muslim family, had to battle hard before she finally got the support of her mother to enter the film industry.

Recalling the first three years in TV, she says that people would recognise her only by the character Kashish.

“The character really grew on me. It took me a while to shed that. I thought I must go back to claim my real identity as an actor and that's when films happened,” she recalls.
Aamna says that she would like to play the role of a hardcore Muslim girl someday
and do a very romantic film.

So how easy is it for Muslim girls to get into acting? “It’s still very conservative but things are changing and looking better. But it’s difficult to completely shed the conservative tag,” she explains.

Aamna hasn’t not been free of link-ups. She was paired off with her co-star Rajeev Khandelwal in the serial.

“Link-ups are best ignored. I will react only when I think it is necessary,” she avers.
She says that people will get to see a new Aamna, “one who loves facing the camera, a glamourous young lady who loves dressing up, and doing all the girlie things,” she
sums up.
