Barkha Dutt is the ‘media star of the decade’
NDTV group editor Barkha Dutt has been selected for the `media star of the decade' award of 'Frame Media', a Kerala based cultural institution.
"Dutt was chosen for her contribution to journalism and coverage of news from war-torn areas of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Kashmir," the jury, chaired by Kerala Press Academy chairman S R Sakthidharan said while announcing the media awards here today.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,001 and a statuette.
`Kazhcha' being telecast by MM TV was adjudged the best news-based programme while `Azhichupani' on Kairali TV was chosen as the best news analysis programme.
Pramod Raman (MMTV) and Sindhu Sooryakumar (Asianet) were selected as the best news presenters.
`Street Light' on Indiavision was chosen the best music based programme. `Nerkuner' (Asianet) was adjudged the best talk show.
Other awardees are: Ranjini Haridas (popular anchor), Marshal Sebastian (Indiavision) and Swapna Vijaykumar (Surya)-special awards.
