Fed-up woman kills alcoholic husband

Police said Appaji, a security guard returned to his house on 16th main in an inebriated state. He and his wife Shivarathna had a row over his salary. In a rage, Shivarathna picked up a heavy stick and hit him on his head. Appaji died of severe injuries on the spot.

Hailing from Maddur, the couple had been living in Bangalore for several years now. They have three kids. Appaji was a compulsive drinker and would spend most of his salary on alcohol. This led to marital discord between the couple, who quarrelled over the issue frequently. This forced Shivarathna to go to her parents’ house and she had returned only on Sunday. JP Nagar police have arrested a case against Shivarathna.

Youth killed over quarrel

A quarrel during a cricket match is said to have led to the murder of a 17-year-old Mubarak at Roopena Agrahara in Madivala on Sunday.

A manual labourer, Mubarak got into a fight with his friends during the match played on Sunday, and assaulted them. His friends Muthu and Surya went to Mubarak’s house at around 8.30 pm and took him outside.

His family learnt of his murder at around 11 pm and found his body near the ESI hospital. The body bore stab wounds on the neck, stomach and chest.

Inspector Purushottam of Madivala station said the murder is likely to be fallout of the quarrel at the cricket match. A case has been registered.

Ex-corporator assaulted

Former corporator Govindraju (52) was assaulted by unidentified people on Monday. He was sitting with three of his friends at a restaurant in Malleswaram at 8 am when three people came in and assaulted him with knives, causing him injuries on his face and hands. Soon, they fled the scene. He was shifted to a hospital and is said to be out of danger. The Malleswaram police are investigating.

Chain snatchers nabbed

Kumaraswamy Layout police have arrested two men, who would steal gold chains after entering the house on the pretext of asking for water.

Ganesh (34) of Tavarekere and Shyama (24) of Chikkalsandra are the arrested and two chains worth Rs 1.50 lakh were confiscated. According to police, the two had stolen a chain from the house of Roopa from Poorna Prajna Layout, after asking for water from her. They had also snatched a chain from a woman in Kumaraswamy Layout, who was taking a walk in a park at Prashanti Nagar.
