Children’s film festival kicks off
The two-day Bangalore International Children’s Film Festival organised by the Ryan Foundation kicked off here on Wednesday with the screening of ‘Green Dog - Nature inspires creativity,’ a movie produced, scripted, directed and edited by 20 Ryanites aged between 13-14 years.
With ‘Action for Green’ as the theme, the festival will screen over 50 children’s films promoting environmental issues aimed at educating children on the green cause. Feature films, animations and short films from 20 countries including India, Turkey, Iran, Serbia, Israel, Germany, Spain and the US will be screened, Festival Director Uttkarsh Marwah told Deccan Herald.
‘Green Dog’, is a movie on the need to save trees and narrates a tale of a 10-year-old boy, his best friend – the tree – and the boy’s efforts to save his friend from being felled. The sensitivity in relationship between a child and the tree makes a metaphor for how deforestation impacts the thinking of the young generation. Ahaan’s neighbour and the school principal depict the importance of people in power having to encourage initiatives to save the environment or the lack of it.
