Free treatment on Doctors Day

On the occasion of World Doctors Day on July 1, the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) will provide free medical treatment from 9 am to 2 pm at Victoria Hospital, Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, Vani Vilas Hospital and Minto Eye Hospital.

Blood donation camp
Similarly, M S Ramaiah Memorial Hospital will honour seven doctors from their medical college, for rendering more than 15 years of service. Also, the Rotary (Banashankari) will hold a blood donation camp along with State Bank of Mysore (SBM) and the blood bank section of Victoria Hospital at SBM Head Office from 10.30 am. Medical Education secretary I M Vittalmurthy will take part in the event.

The Doctors Day was first observed by Eduora Brown Almond, wife of Dr Charles Almond in the USA in 1933. In India, the Doctors Day is celebrated on July 1, the birth anniversary of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy.
