Elephant menace in Banakal hobli

Rogue elephants have been barging into plantations and destroying coffee, cardamom, banana, areca and coconut crops. Though forest officials have been deployed in Kotrekere region, the local residents have firmly demanded for permanent solution for the problem.

At present, the spotted rogue tusker are being shunned away to Kogile forest region by officials and local residents. Speaking to Deccan Herald, Assistant Conservator of Forest Srinivas Reddy said that it is lone tusker, which have been causing damage to property.

Meanwhile MLA M P Kumaraswamy has said that CM will be urged to sanction funds to establish elephant park and steps will be taken to provide compensation to those whose properties and crops have been damaged at the earliest.
